Imbue covers the entire journey for both new builds and existing assets, giving clients confidence that their ESG and environmental commitments are met.

Imbue operates from Cape Town with a significant presence in Gauteng and other South African provinces, and has built recognition through involvement in sustainability-focused property and infrastructure initiatives nationwide.

Simon Penso leads Imbue Sustainability while serving as a Director at Solid Green Consulting, where he established and heads the Solid Green Performance division. All green building consulting projects and certifications are undertaken by Solid Green; Imbue focuses on renewable energy solutions and utility optimisation. Open Access Energy supports our wheeled energy work.
Together the teams deliver Green Star certifications, EDGE and EPC ratings, renewable energy deployment and ongoing asset optimisation under one coordinated approach.
The lifecycle
Six stages, from first data request to signed handover file.
Information gathering
Detailed site, building and consumption data collected via an RFI form.
Budget and feasibility
Desktop feasibility, order-of-magnitude budget and a site consumption profile study.
System design development
Site suitability study, design options, solar irradiation study and on-site aerial surveying.
Tender procurement
Contractor vetting, performance specification, procurement management, and technical and financial review of responses.
Project implementation
JBCC contract pack negotiated, EPC contractor managed, programme monitored, budget and cash flow controlled, site inspections carried out.
Testing, close out and completion
Performance testing against design metrics, snag close-out, SSEG and COC sign-off, O&M contract commencement.
Stage 6 — solar asset management — runs alongside a separate O&M agreement with the appointed contractor.
